WFF Secretariat Holds Internal Seminar

February 23, 2011 — Secretariat of World Future Foundation (WFF) held an internal seminar. In view of a research report and a new Code of Governance, the secretariat staff has carried out the study and discussion.

To begin the seminar, Mr Sun Lin, Office Assistant of WFF, introduced a research report entitled ‘Grantmaking Entities in Singapore’ which was conducted by the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy of National University of Singapore. The report outlined the various grant-making entities in Singapore that cover the establishment of new entities, the causes they support, as well as the manner in which their grant-making activities are administered.

Ms Wang Yena, Program Officer of WFF, then introduced the Code of Governance for Charities and Institutions of a Public Character (2011) which was recently issued by Charity Council of Singapore in January 2011, and analysed the changed provisions comparing to Code of Governance (2007). Her introduction enabled the participants to have a clearer understanding of the new Code of Governance.

After the introduction, the participants had an active discussion with two speakers. To finish, Mr Lu Bo, Managing Director of WFF, summarized the topics discussed. Mr Lu emphasized the importance of conducting research on charity, and wished secretariat staff to pay close attention to the latest laws and regulations. Through this discussion, the staff gained a better understanding of the position of WFF and development direction in the future.
